Project-Self-reliant

APON Foundation initiated the Self-Reliant Project Shabolombhi to support individuals and families in becoming self-sufficient through the supervised utilization of Zakat funds. In our Shabolombhi project, many individuals and families improve their economic lives through our supervision. They earn a livelihood by setting up small shops, raising cattle, and becoming tailors, with the help of sewing machines, fabrics, and other equipment.

Shabolombhi is a sustainable livelihood project aimed at eradicating poverty and ensuring a sustainable life for the poor. Essentially, Shabolombhi is run by Zakat funds. Zakat is an obligatory economic worship in Islamic Shari'ah, and its main objective is to eliminate poverty from the Muslim community. However, in Bangladesh, there are no adequate methods to manage the Zakat Fund. We are aware that in the past, Nisab Ul-Mall has distributed clothing and food through Zakat funds, but it has not led to any significant improvement in the lives of the poor. Today, the trend is changing, as some individuals and corporations are becoming more aware of the need to utilize their Zakat funds to eliminate poverty. In some cases, APON Foundation is part of these initiatives. To ensure proper utilization of the Zakat funds, APON Foundation has launched a sustainable livelihood program, called Shabolombhi. We hope that Nisab Ul-Mall will join us in this noble initiative to build a poverty-free society, InshaAllah
